One-third of students in college changed their major because they lacked experience in their chosen field.

Career and technical education (CTE) coursework provides a career-focused education, allowing students the opportunity to:

  • explore their interests
  • learn practical skills,
  • determine how they want to proceed with their education

U.S. Department of Education studies show that students who focus on CTE courses while in high school have higher median annual earnings vs. students who do not. While CTE includes Audio/Visual Technology Communications, few Louisiana students can opt for this growing segment of employment due to a lack of available training.

With our innovative and tested introduction to Media coursework, The Media Lab is partnering with local high schools to close this gap in CTE training for Louisiana students.

Our proven career development coursework empowers local high school students to make informed decisions about their future career choices and provides the necessary skills for them to succeed in media.
