Meet the Team

Dave Badie
Founder | Program Director
Journalism Professor

David is an Adjunct Professor of Journalism at Loyola University and is an Emmy-nominated, Edward R. Murrow award-winning communications professional with more than 30 years of journalism experience in multiple markets. His coverage has included several major events such as the Democratic and Republican National Conventions and NFL Super Bowls.
He has also contributed coverage to several major television networks, including ESPN, CNN, CBS, FOX, The PGA Tour, and Nippon Television in Tokyo, Japan.
His years of professional work make David a skilled instructor of advanced techniques in videography and editing, including news, feature, and documentary styles. He is trained in Avid, Edius, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere Edit systems, and Pro-Tools Audio Recording Systems.
By utilizing his abilities with a variety of non-linear editing systems, his focus is to give students “hands-on” training in editing, allowing students to perfect their skills, develop their personal style of videography and editing, and creatively use audio and video to tell a story.

Albert Dupont
Technology Director, Video Engineer

Albert Dupont is a south Louisiana native and has spent nearly 30 years in broadcast journalism and education. Before joining Loyola’s School of Communication, he was the Advanced TV Broadcasting instructor at the Satellite Center in St. Charles Parish.
Dupont is an Adobe Certified Associate in Premiere Pro and Photoshop and an AVID Certified Instructor in Media Composer since 2008. The Satellite Center was one of the few high school programs in the United States to train students as AVID Certified Users. He was also the co-founder of the Satellite Center Video and Animation Festival, which was created to showcase the work of the Satellite Center’s team members and, over 10 years, grew to be a festival for Louisiana high school students.
Dupont also works freelance for the New Orleans Pelicans as a replay operator, video engineer, and camera operator. He also freelanced for Cox Sports, Essence Festival, Sugar Bowl, ESPN, CNN, Fox Sports, and Fox News.
He is the Louisiana state director for the Journalism Education Association and is a Contributor to the JEA Digital Media website.

Monica Pierre
Professor of Journalism and Digital Media

Monica Pierre is a sought-after speaker, three-time Suncoast Regional Emmy Award-winning journalist, story coach, and founder of The Story Maker Academy where she teaches how to discover, develop, and deliver stories for influence, impact and legacy.
Monica is also the host of The Powerhouse Woman Show. She was recently awarded an Alex Trebek Legacy Fellowship, which took her to the Television Academy Foundation’s 2023 Media Educators Conference in Los Angeles.
As a veteran reporter and talk show host, Monica has interviewed thousands of people from all walks of life. She knows there is more than enough room for all stories to be told, shared, and valued.
She is Assistant Professor of Practice with the department of Mass Communication at Xavier University where she teaches podcasting, broadcast announcing and storytelling to the next generation of aspiring media talent.

Danielle Broussard, PhD, MPH
Program Evaluator

Danielle Broussard, PhD, MPH, is a public health professional with more than 20 years of experience as a researcher and program evaluator. During her career, Dr. Broussard has developed, implemented, and collaborated on an array of research and evaluation projects within academia and state health departments.
For several years, she also served as the Director of Research and Evaluation for a local non-profit community-based organization focused on improving the health and well-being of children and adolescents. In that capacity, she led evaluation activities for multiple programs, including an assessment of student learning and attitude change associated with health promotion and positive youth development programs implemented in public schools.
In her role as Program Evaluator, Dr. Broussard will develop evaluation protocols, design assessment tools, collect, manage, and analyze data, monitor program impacts and effectiveness, and generate recommendations for program enhancements.
